Just wondering why my credit report is telling me that I have a delinquent credit card balance of $584 to an old credit union that I went to when I know for certain that I paid that balance in full months ago after an agreement in small claims court. I know that credit karma does not show any signs of collections etc. anymore.
I am being told that my credit score would rise from 538 to 573 if paid in full and if I made monthly payments of $24 for 24 months then my score would rise to 598.
Any help would be appreciated.
First guess is that the creditor has not yet reported the updated balance to the CRA,
They are required to promptly unpdate any reported information so as to maintain its current accuracy. FCRA 623(a)(2).
I would first give them an informal call and remind them of their obligation to have promptly updated.
If they fail to do so in the next reporting cycle, then file a formal dispute.
I called them today and they told me that they corrected the mistake and that the change should show up within a month. Hopefully I will see an increase in my credit score now that this has been handled.
