Credit card shopping spree

Hello all,

After browsing through the forum, I've decided to go on a credit card shopping spree to see what I get.  My intention was to replace my subprime cards with prime ones.

Amex Gold Delta - 2K approved. Experian and Equifax pulled.
Amex Starwood - In process.  Hope I can get approved as well.
Discover Card - Declined.
Chase Freedom - Wait for 30 days response (probably declined) Experian pulled.
BoA Visa Platium - Declined. Experian Pulled.
Citi AA World Mastercard - 5k approved. Smiley Surprised Experian Pulled.
Hooters Mastercard - 1k - approved. TU pulled.
WashingMutual Visa Platium - 1.3k approved. TU pulled.
HSBC Platium - Declined after a soft inquiry recommended me for a 1% cash back card.  Angry Smiley Mad  Equifax pulled.

Question:  When I receive Amex and Citi, what would be the best way to request CLI upon activation?  Through customer service or online?

Thank you

Happy hunting.

Re: Credit card shopping spree

Citi are giving high CL. I applied online and they told me they don't make cc approval online. Sounds like I got denied and she tried to make it look good.

Re: Credit card shopping spree

AMEX seems to no longer be granting CLIs within 30 days of activation.

Re: Credit card shopping spree

Don't ask CITI for a CLI upon activation. They want to see at least six months payment history. You can ask, just expect to see a letter in your mailbox explaining what I already told you.

Doesn't hurt to try.. My wife got a Citi CLI on activation this week. I was astonished. The CLI almost doubled her CL.

Congrats on your new approvals. I am waiting to close on my home to see if I will get some love also. Can you share your FICO scores please? Thanks

Re: Credit card shopping spree

Sorry for not posting my scores, all 3 scores pulled today.

TU - 618
EX - 601
EQ - 601

My scores are low, I am very surprise with what I think as generous credit line.  I tried the score simulator, if I pay down my balance to 5% within 1 month, my scores will increase as much as 120 points.  That is a lot.

Tusc, could you please tell me when your wife request CLI upon activation with Citi, they pull another inquiry or just looking back at the credit report that was pulled for application and revaluate it?  Same as for Amex.

Too bad Amex no longer granting CLI upon activation. Smiley Sad
