That's considered direct dispute, you initiated it and remark is direct result of your request.

Now you need to wait for "investigation" to be completed.

Remark will be removed once it's completed.

Not always. I asked Target to off schedule report and they did, but listed it as a dispute. It's still on my reports over a year later. Haven't bothered to contact them as the remarks don't affect me negatively.

@Remedios  Just saw @Brian_Earl_Spilner reply so that makes me wonder again WHO actually is reponsible for the Insertion of the remark because they would be the party to Remove it.

In case it sticks around for too long.

Even if there is no apparent negative effect it still needs to be removed at some point.

Credit Issuer or Credit Reporting Agency?

The remark that it has been disputed can last for the life of the reporting. I have accounts that were disputed well over a decade and closed well over ago that still carry tge "dispute" remark. It will age off when the account ages off - whenever that may be (likely 10 years from last update since it was EX and EQ - so still a few years to go!).

Re: Creditor or Credit Reporting Agency

But the way it is supposed to work is like Remmy said. The lender is supposed to tell the bureau it’s in dispute and then tell the bureau it’s out of dispute. Problem is half the time they never follow up and tell them it’s done. But that doesn’t change the fact that that’s how it’s supposed to be done as she said.

@Anonymous  @Anonymous @Remedios @Brian_Earl_Spilner  and everyone this data can help.

Update: I saw that the remarks came off in the 29th and 30th of June 30 (Trans and Equifax) days after they appeared so I don't have to endure seeing them linger on forever.

The thing is when I originally called the creditor I only was talking about EX not updating and I said that Trans and Eq was updating correctly.

But they got pulled into the mix and it ended up being a Direct Dispute (which I learned through this post) for all the bureaus.

As of this day EX had finally updated the correct amount from Feb to April but hasn't updated again for May or June. Don't know whats going on with them. Since it has no real impact right now I am not going to say anything again to the creditor causing another Direct Dispute across the bueaus and just hope at some time in the future EX will start updating this one account correctly.

**Also noticed today that Experian (updated on June 30th) is lagging on my FICO 8 updates (shown every 30 days) for Trans and EQ.

I have Extracredit which shows Point increases (updated on the 16th of June) for both Trans and Eq.

Extracredit shows Trans 723 (719 + 4) and Eq 736 (728+8) while Ex still showing Trans 719 and Eq 728 fourteen days later.

Ex use to be so accurate but now not so much.
