It’s honestly not a big deal in the grand scheme. You can wait til next month to have things recover, or you can get your balance to zero and call customer service at Disco to request an off-cycle report - they’re great about doing that. I paid a big chunk of mine off some months ago and wanted it reflected since my report date was 2-3 weeks out still. Called up, was on the phone for two minutes to request it, and the next day my alerts showed the balance change. Disco was happy to do that.
This is great to know!!
Agreed on the ability to request and receive an off-cycle reporting with Discover. Just make sure you pay the account to $0 first and that you have no pending charges. If you do that you'll get your 3 points back within a few days rather than having to wait a month. Totally your choice of course.
somthing simaler happened to me. did your statment cut on a weekend, and then the new purchase post between the statment cutting and monday? I believe if disco statment closes on the weekend, they will report whatever the balance is on the following monday.

Good Morning,
Thought I was figuring this out BUT.... My Discover Statement cuts on the 20th. I owed 29.95 so I paid that and used the card again on the 19th. Takes 3- days to post. Checked Discover all weekend so last night the website showed my 29.95 payment and 0.00 due on the 15th. Just the way I wanted it considering I have been paying several times a month. I’ve been trying to swipe a lot and PIF.
Checked my EX score and it shows my balance as 76.05 not the 0.00 that my statement shows 🙄. So I lost 3 FICO points. I thought they reported what ever my statement showed? 3 points is a lot when rebuilding. I just printed my Statement and it shows balance 0.00! I did expect them to report highest balance as $76.05.
First, it's difficult to believe that your score dropped 3 points for $76.05 reporting. That's barely a blip in your credit profile. Believe me, something else happened to caused the drop.
Second, UT has no memory--none at all--so this point drop will mean nothing next month when the scores update.
Third, don't develop a bad habit of watching the pendulum swing back-and-forth regarding your scores unless you're preparing for a mortgage. Otherwise, you'll drive yourself nuts. I know I drove myself crazy in the beginning watching my scores like a hawk. Just enjoy your cards, buy what you want, pay as you are doing; and rest assured that everything in your credit profile will align with the stars.
