Amex recently corrected my "Member Since" date to reflect my first Amex account. Will they report this date change to the CRAs?
I don't believe they backdate reports in regards to "member since" anymore. It will be an internal thing with them only.
Not going to happen.
The "Member since" date us internal only
I had Amex cards from 2004-2017 and again 2021-present. My "Member since" date is 2004, but my cards report with the actual date opened.
Amex credit report backdating stopped around 2015. Any new accounts opened since then will reflect the actual date. Authorized User cards are treated differently. Amex AU dates reflect the date the AU was added, not the opening date of the account.
As it should be for all AU accounts!
Thanks, everyone. I sorta figured it wouldn't, but was hopeful. 😊👍
March 21st, 2015...a very sad day...lol. Backdating was a huge help with AAoA. Every article I've read states the reason is unclear, and that it was most likely pressure from regulators, the credit bureaus themselves or other financial institutions. My first AmEx card was issued in 1988, so AmEx will forever be in my portfolio.
