Dormant card

I was just trying to find some clarification about dormant cards and can't quite find what I'm looking for on here.  If I use a card regularly and pay it off before statement posts, will it eventually show dormant.  If it always posts a zero balance then won't the credit bureaus think it's a dormant card?

Re: Dormant card

I noticed Equifax does report that on my pd. cr sub every month.  I pif, but let one card show some action-always a different card and every month EQ. sends me an alert versing "Dormant".  It's a little odd to me. I've never seen "Dormant" on TU or Exp though.

(Edit to add) All it takes is skip one month with no action, 0 bal, on one of my cards for EQ to claim it's dormant when it reports a bal. within the next month or two....something like that.

Even if you pay it to 0 balance when statement cuts the amount of that payment gets sent to the CRAs so it would show as active.

I had a card report 0 balance in June and I got a notice that I had "Dormant" activity on that same card when it reported a $60 balance on July 25th.  It only does this on Eq.  You don't ever see that?

Re: Dormant card

@Anonymous... great question and thread! Got a notice from Experian that one of the cards on my CR became active (from Dormant). First thing I did was call the lender thinking someone had reopened a closed credit card and I had fraud or ID situation. The lender was patient and we ran through all my past and present cards. Everything matched to the "T" so they determined there was no problem. The next day it dawned on me that a credit card that I always pay to zero before statement cut was my designated reporter for the month. Sure was in shock as I knew nothing about reports of "Dormant" credit cards. Learn and you live. Then here we are with a thread that flushes this matter out! Glad you asked cause I sure did not know Smiley Sad

This! And when you allow it to post a balance, EQ gives you kudos for using credit. bizarre

You can't be, cause it is way too late for proper people.
