Last weekend I bought a car. The dealership (I assume) added my employer name to the info they sent out while looking for an auto loan for me. They abbriviated the name of my employer to a 3 letters, which would be ok, except that they got the letters wrong. My credit report lists me as working at "SBS CO" . The first letter is wrong, and we are a Co., LPA. Do I need to dispute these with Experian and Transunion?

If it bothers you go ahead and dispute, they ususally just take off that kind of stuff without any investagation. It may pop up again if that info is attached to a loan or if it is listed in Lexis Nexis. Employer info dosen't have any impace on your credit.

Ok. Thank you!
I would dispute it. The key to automated credit approvals is matching information. The computers don’t like it if you put down employer X but the data says you work at employer Y. While it has no impact on your score it will propagate all the databases and become an inconvenience. You will be applying for something 3 years from now and you will get one of those verification questions: “which one of those companies have you worked for?” You will forgot this whole incident with the dealership and answer the question wrong.
You can dispute it online and you don’t even have to provide the correct info. Just will be removed in days.

Oh, that's a really good point. Would you dispute it now, or maybe let the new Auto loan sit for a month or two and than dispute it? I know it's on Experian and Transunion wrong as I looked at experian and Transunion showed up on credit karma. Do I need to check out exquifax too, even though I don't believe it was pulled for this loan (it's through Cap1 Auto)?
FWIW, my EQ report has no employer listed, my TU report has a company I worked for nearly 30 years ago and EX is the only one with the correct information. I've had plenty of credit interaction over the past 30 years, including 2 mortgages and have had no problems.
However, right is right and wrong is wrong so I understand the desire to get that fixed. With my OCD tendencies not sure why I haven't done it other than the possible headache I anticipate dealing with the bureau's.
