FYI - BECU is quite invasive for an approval

I just pulled my annual credit reports to see soft inquiries and wanted to share this information on what BECU pulled to allow me membership and a Visa credit card.

*SUPPLEMENTAL PUBLIC RECORDS AND RESIDENTIAL INFORMATION

Data Source/Recorder's Office: BROWARDFL Requested by: BECU

*SUPPLEMENTAL CONSUMER CREDIT INFORMATION

Data Source: CoreLogic Inc. (1 CoreLogic Drive, Westlake, TX 76262, (866) 873-3651) Requested by: BECU

*CLUB & SUBSCRIPTION ACTIVITY

Data Source: Alliant Cooperative Data Solutions (301 Fields Lane, Brewster, NY 10509-2621, (866) 310-7278)

Did they do an inquiry with the FBI?

Re: FYI - BECU is quite invasive for an approval

For opening my share account with BECU, they hit Chex Systems with a Checking Account inquiry (even though no checking was opened) and a DDA inquiry.  It doesn't specifically show BECU on my TransUnion report, but it's listed from Goldman Sachs providing the data when I looked for kicks to see what my APR and starting line would be if I opened an Apple card.  The date makes it obvious that it was BECU though since it is my sole Chex entry; the last time I opened any bank or credit union deposit account was more than 3 years prior.

For later opening a credit card with BECU, they hit up Suffolk County, Mass. for housing records.

Both of these entries are listed under Third Party Supplemental Information at the bottom of my TU report.

For a $40,000 credit card with a no-fee 0% balance tranfer and a variable Prime + 3.65% APR, I have no complaints!

I am an outlier with BECU,

I was an instant approval.

I'm from the East Coast,no connection with Boeing at all,

save that CU Club to join.

I was not asked once to provide any documents,ID,

POI..nothing. After a year I have 46K in credit and LOC.

So I agree with @K-in-Boston Great Credit Union :-)

If jumping through hoops is not your bag...BECU might

not be for you.

Good luck in whatever you do :-)

Cheers

They are pretty rigorous with their checking. It's a wonder they don't also interview neighbors when they inquire about new clients.
