FYI, just saw a credit score of 773 with 29mo trade history, with one CC.

Not sure if this is the appropriate forum, but I had somebody apply for an auto loan.  Experian reported back a 773 credit score with 29mo trade history, the only trade was a US bank credit card, I asked the member has PIF every month since he's had the card.  Seems like just when I think I start to have FICO figured out, it tosses me another scenario.  He had no inquiries other than the one to get the card.  I'll be PIF both of my cards from now on Smiley Happy...

It would be unlikely if it was a FICO score. Maybe it was auto-enhanced or a FAKO?

Well pull straight from experian, it was a legit score.  The only negative factor was "length of time accounts have been established."  I've seen several scores in the 730+ range with just 2 trades, but never one that high with one card, crazy.

I had 789 (EQ, MyFico) with one 14 year old closed tl and a 4 month old new one. About 10 new accounts later, it's still around 740. I've had new accounts raise, lower, and have no effect on my scores, I quit trying to figure anything out.

Oldest account 14 years old.

Average age of accounts 7 years.

Assuming low utilization, I can see how 789 could be possible. Of course each additional new tradeline lowered the average age significantly.

Able, that's exactly it. You have an incredible base to start with, and it's surprising that you don't take much of a hit with additional inq's or tl's. But would you give someone a 75K credit card after doing a manual review? Some people focus on the numbers and not how thin your credit report is. Max out your card, drop 100+ pts. 30 days late, drop 100+ pts. I have about 10-12 open tl's now with decent limits, no lates, no derogs, never a bk. There's a nice psychological advantage to it, but it's only a fluke of the Fico Gods that one old account is still reporting. That's why I keep telling people to pull their MyFico scores rather than say 'I think I'm between 500 and 600'. BTW, back in the 90's, when I was getting those obscene credit limits, I had no idea what my score was. I didn't even know there was a 'score'. My 17yo ds now knows more about credit than I did.

OP, he PIF'd but probably had pretty low util reporting as well. That is the key to the scoring. What is this person's util % being reported on EX?

The reported balance was zero, and the card had been reported as current for 24mo.  I asked him and he said he always make sure it's paid in full.  I don't think he knew the reporting date, but I do believe he made sure that card was paid off well in advance each month.
