Fico Simulator question...

DH and I paid off $6000 in credit card bills in one lump sum at the end of Feb. This was a debt that was spread out between 4 credit cards. When we checked our cr it ony showed that only one of those credit cards as reflecting the 0 balance. How long will it take for the rest of the credit cards to show paid in full? Also, when we did the Fico simulator it said (for example) my husband's score would go from 648 to 715. How accurate is this, and how quickly would it happen? I don't quite understand it, and my hubby isn't quite buying it.

Re: Fico Simulator question...

The simulator is very accurate with credit card payoff. Smiley Happy

Usually it takes 10-20 days to update "after" the closing date in your credit cards statements. My due dates are around the 15th each month, my closing dates are around the 30th of each months. So my credit reports update 10-20 days after the 30th.

If you find the closing dates on your bills, you will be able to estimate when it will show on your credit files.

The score change is right away, however scorewatch can take up to 7 days to reflect this score change on top of all this. So I'd say in mostly all cases with revolving debt with in 27 days after your closing date should cover all bases. Smiley Happy

Re: Fico Simulator question...

Thank you so much!! That's very exciting news, I'm just worried because we closed 2 of the accounts. I hope it doesn't hurt too much. But even an increase to 650 would make us happy. We looked over our cr, and that was the big thing weighing us down, was the revolving credit.

I can't wait! Smiley Very Happy

Re: Fico Simulator question...

The Simulator did not take into account closing the accounts-
What was his before and after UTL? and after closing the 2 cards?

Re: Fico Simulator question...

Wamu finally reported that we had paid them off and closed them. They reported on the 17th and we just got an e-mail alert of the change today. My Eq score went from 604 to 633!! Dh went from 620 to 679!!! I'm floored. I was not expecting this big of a jump so suddenly. I'm dancing I'm so happy.
