Got DV letter back, now what?

I called and left a message.  I had called the OC and they would accept the payment but since it was sent to a collection agency they couldn't control if it went on my CR's and from reading the forums, we should not pay first and try to get the deletion later because we have no leverage at that point to negotiate.  Is this right?

You should negotiate a PFD with them before you pay it... keep it off your reports forever.

I thought so, just wanted to make sure.  I will actually fax that pfd letter over to them tonight so it will be sitting there bright and shiny on Monday morning.
