Got a call from Portfolio today

I received a call from a collection agency, Portfolio.  They claimed that I had a Chevy Chase credit card back in 1994 that went delinquent.  I told them that I was not aware of having this credit card and would like for them to send me the supporting documentation.  Was this the right thing to do and what do I do next?

Re: Got a call from Portfolio today

Immediately send a DV to them
Ask to only communicate with you via mail.
Dispute the validity of the account.

Re: Got a call from Portfolio today

Tell them to take the longest run off the shortest pier in town.  Advise then that this account is past the reporting limitations under the FCRA and that if it shows on your CR you will immediately report them to the FTC.  I'm sure that there is no such thing as an SOL of 13years on a debt of this kind. Advise them if they call you again, you will sue them.

Welcome to the workd of zombie debt collectors

Of course after you get validation that the debt is 13 yrs old
