Hard inquiries from over 12 months ago

Hard inquiries from over 12 months ago (but within 24 months) do not affect one's score. But how do they affect one's approval odds?

Also, do those old inquiries between 12 - 24 months count towards the limit of inquiries when one applies for a card with a bank that dosn't approve people with more than a certain number of inquiries?

Depends on the lender as to whether or not they take into account those that are past the one year mark, they can and do use them as a reason to deny if they dont like your profile but cannot find another valid reason to deny. Yes some banks will also take the aggregagte total of inquiries. Inquiries are rarely a reason to deny in and of themselves.

Entirely up to the individual creditor as to how they look at inquiries.  Some creditors allow a host of them and some will deny you for a small amount like "4".

You can check the forum for data points on what creditors show a tendency to be Inquiry sensitive.
