Help with fraud alert

My final question of the day....I disputed 4 items on my Experian report that was totally wrong. Experian supposedly investigated and said they were correct after only 1 day. I then called and asked how they could do this. They then said they would reinvestigate them. I haven't heard anything but it's only been 2 weeks. I them recieved a notice from Equifax saying that they are putting a 90 day fraud alert on my file that I didn't initiate. Can it be possible that Experian contacted Equifax , I find this hard to believe since Experian didn't contact me about a fraud alert nor do I have one with them or Trans Union. Also does anyone have a number that I can contact Equifax about this?

Re: Help with fraud alert

Did you dispute with EQ?

Did you dispute as "not mine"?

If so, how many accounts did you dispute?

I believe the FCRA now requires that any FA placed be transmitted by that CRA to the other two.

You could get it removed via a phone call. Same happened to DW (on EQ only) when she disputed once.

Re: Help with fraud alert

llecs is correct, they will notifiy the other two credit agencies. If you want the fraud alert removed all you have to do is contact them. The fraud alert will not hurt your credit. All that will happen is that it will alert creditors,  they may ask for additional information to make sure you are who you say you are.

Take care and good luck...!
