Trying to figure out how long I have until I'm screwed.
Statement Cut: October 2nd
Minimum Payment Due: October 28th (two days ago)
Late Payment Warning: If we do not receive your Minimum Payment Due by
the Payment Due Date of 10/28/20, you may have to pay a late fee of up to
$40.00 and your Pay Over Time APR may be increased to the Penalty APR of
29.24%.
QUESTION:
Do I have until 30 days form October 2nd (which would be November 1st) to get it paid?
Or is it 30 days from October 28th?
Really want to avoid a 30-day late.
A 30 day late means that you missed or otherwise failed to make at least the mininum payment due on 2 payment dates in a row.
Were you current on your October 2nd statement?

The October 2nd statement is what this thread is about.

I was on time with my September statement and ALL other Amex statements.
So I have until November 28th to get this paid and it will not be a 30-day late? Just seems so weird because that's 50+ days since the statement cut.

Yes.
As of right now you are late in making your payment, but the amount of time that you are late is less than 30 days.

Thank you for your assistance.
You're welcome, and good luck.
Should ask Amex if there are any financial relief options available
A billing due date of Oct. 28 means if you dont make the min payment by that date, you account will be delinquent under the terms of your account agreement, which may then result in the creditor charging late fees or taking any other permissible actions defined under the terms of your account agreement, such as increase of interest rates, account closure, reduction of credit limit, etc.
However, if you become delinquent on the account, it does not become reportable as a 30-day late to any of the CRAs until the period of delinquency has reached 30 days after the billing due date. That is standard CRA reporting policy, and applies to all furnishers.
You thus have 30 days after Oct 28 to make payment before it becomes a reportable 30-late.

Keep in mind that even if you don't get a 30-day late on your CRs, in AmX eyes you have still missed your minimum payment due date. I don't think they're going to be happy, especially if the outstanding balance is large, because AmX loves transactors (PIF). IMHO, I think they might take AA. Try and get that payment in ASAP.
