How long is "new" credit considered "new"?

I've opened 3 small unsecured CCs in 2011 to rebuild and one of the things I keep seeing that is impacting my score is "amount of new credit".  My AAoA is 6 years, with my oldest being 13 years.  Is there a time frame that the "new" business falls out of the equation?

Starting Score: 10/1/2011 EQ 568 TU 593
Current Score: EQ 664 TU 700 EX 701 (FAKO)

From reading many posts it seems that 6-12 months is about the norm.
