Inquiries, which is correct?

Transunion provided by Discover, I believe is FICO 8, says 6 inquiries

CreditKarma says 37.

The thing is, all 37 of those inquiries listed on CreditKarma are accurate, so why is FICO 8, what most people claim is the real score, only showing 6?

Re: Inquiries, which is correct?

2 reasons:

(1) The Disco scorecard has known issues - the FICO score is accurate, but some of the report data is sometimes off (specifically # of accounts, inquries).

(2) the Disco site may only be showing scorable inquiries (those made within the last 12 months). I haven't looked at the Disco site in a while so don't remember if they show all inquiries or just the last 12 months.

This has nothing to do with FICO and everything to do with Disco's front-end software.

FICO is still the score used by the majority of lenders.

Though Credit Karma (Vantage 3) scores are not used for credit decisions, their report data tends to be accurate.

Check your report from annualcreditreport.com, which is more complete......

Re: Inquiries, which is correct?

Yeah I am definitely thinking the Discover site is missing quite a few. The score is showing a 648, which seems accurate, but the inquiries are well short.

If only 6 "scorable" inquiries, then I am happy.

Yea,  last I checked the Disco site my report data was off too... It showed no inquiries when I had 2, and 29 open accounts when I had a total of 19.    But the score was accurate (I have an Experian subscription so was able to compare).    There was a thread on the forums a few weeks ago about this and others noted experiencing the same -- all confirmed the score provided was accurate.

Don't go by the inquiry count on Disco --  if you know you have 37 inquiries - then only the ones that occurred in the last 12 months are considered "scorable".  If you do as @RobertEG suggested and pull your reports from annualcreditreport.com,  you'll be able to confirm.

Re: Inquiries, which is correct?

What is the dropoff date?

For example I have 3 inquiries from 4-20-17 from car shopping

--David Hobbs (Honda dealer), Americredit, Exeter Financial -- should these drop off on 4-21-19?

Yea --  I've noticed there is sometimes a lag in auto-removal (though most people don't notice because most people don't obsess over their reports).

You can call the bureaus and ask that they be removed - should be no problem.

Re: Inquiries, which is correct?

Ha, us rebuilders are more likely to obsess over their reports daily!

I might give the Bureaus a call and ask if they can be removed.

I just sent in a dispute to all three agencies, so I assume I will get three fresh credit reports when they are done with their investigations.
