Re: Inquiries??

They stay on your reports for up to 2 years, but factor in FICO scoring for only 1 year.

Re: Inquiries??

And don't let inquiries scare you. A couple inquiries aren't really going to matter. The people who get hit by inquiries the most are the frustrated folks with bad credit who figure saturation bombing is the way to apply for credit. Then they wind up with ten or twenty inquiries, which are enough to depress their scores.

Don't let inquiries deter you from applying for credit, just know when to say when.

Re: Inquiries??

How about if the inquiry is from a collection agency
saying that you had requested credit

NCO pulled an inquiry in Oct 2007

It is the only inquiry on report ,is this worth fighting?

Do you have an NCO collection on your report?

Re: Inquiries??

It was an old MBNA account that was settled with NCO last year
after the inquiry

Re: Inquiries??

Then they had permissible purpose. Don't worry about this inq, it will not prevent you from getting credit. I had a hard NCO inq placed on my TU report just before a collection was due to fall off. Even with this inq, I was still approved for three prime CCs.

Re: Inquiries??

Thanks for the advice and I have bad credit, but I don't want to hurt it more with the inquiries. I have 3 new tradelines that I'm dedicated to not screwing up this time and I just want to know when would be a good time to apply for a store card. All of these are major credit cards.
