Is a CA inquiry supposed to affect my score?

I have inquiries from a couple different CA from last year showing up as affecting my credit score. I obviously never authorized them to run my credit. Can I get these removed?

Current Scores: 11/23/13 EX 655; EQ 679; TU 705

Re: Is a CA inquiry supposed to affect my score?

if they are legitimate collections, then the concensus that i read is they have "permissable purpose" to pull your credit and yes this can impact your score.

if i'm miss-informed others will chime in.

I'm also one of those who argue that CA's have permissible purpose.

This is from the FCRA:

"§ 604. Permissible purposes of consumer reports [15 U.S.C. § 1681b]

(a) In general. Subject to subsection (c), any consumer reporting agency may furnish a

consumer report under the following circumstances and no other:   ....

(3) To a person which it has reason to believe

(A) intends to use the information in connection with a credit transaction

involving the consumer on whom the information is to be furnished and

involving the extension of credit to, or review or collection of an account

of, the consumer; ..."

If it is more than 1 yr., it is not harming your score. If less, yes. Some here had success in removing inquiries like these. You'd have to look around, though.

Thanks for the info. So, if the pfd works then I'll dispute the inquiry

Me too.  I'm no defender of CAs, but the FCRA seems pretty straightforward on this.
