KCA Fin Svc In? Hard Inquiry without requesting credit...

Anyone ever hear of KCA Fin Svc In? There's a TU Hard Inquiry that just appeared yesterday
on my credit report and I didn't apply for any new credit.

Thanks.

I just googled them.  It's a company called KCA Financial Services, Inc.  You might want to visit their website at www.kcafs.com.

Re: KCA Fin Svc In? Hard Inquiry without requesting credit...

I called them and they said I owe $97.00 from a Verizon account form 2.5 years ago. This account was in collections and I contacted Verizon 4 months ago and explained the situation to them and within a few days, the collection was removed from all 3 credit bureaus. Verizon zeroed out the analog phone service balance, but told me there was a balance for broadband that they didn't control and couldn't zero out.

(I never used the broadband and didn't know about it. The Verizon rep who zeroed out my balnce fro the home phone tried to help me previously by transferring my call to the broadband folks, but noone on that side of the fence could verify a balance.)

Anyway, I now see a hard inquiry from KFC, though nothing negative at this moment is being reported. When I spoke to their rep, I said worst case I'd pay the debt as long as they don't report anything negative. I was then told that any account not paid within 30 days after the balance was incurred would appear on my credit report, and if nothing is appearing, I'm just lucky. I then respectfully said to said me any information they have and ended the call.

Now what? Sit tight? Call Verizon again? Again, I just noticed a hard inquiry from yesterday, though nothing negative is currently reporting.

I would send them the NON-PP INQ letter.

I say they owe you $1000 if you want to pursue it.

And NEVER call a CA.

Never.

Re: KCA Fin Svc In? Hard Inquiry without requesting credit...

Pardon my ignorance, but what's the Non-PP INQ letter. Is that to dispute
the Hard Inquiry?

And, you are absolutely right about not calling CA's. For some
reason, this time I thought it was important to call to try and head them
off at the pass if at all possible. Like I said, nothing negative is
reporting yet, but I unfortunately suspect that will quickly change..

Thanks for all the great advice.

Re: KCA Fin Svc In? Hard Inquiry without requesting credit...

Thanks. I may send them the letter requesting the Hard Inquiry be removed (if it won't open up any other can of worms). For my clarification, a CA has no right to review my credit report without my consent, or they have no right to a Hard Inquiry? Or am I missing something in the verbage?

Re: KCA Fin Svc In? Hard Inquiry without requesting credit...

I had a collection placed (with hard inquiry) on my CRs from KCA about a year and a half ago. Since then, I've sent numerous DVs as well as a PFD, all with no response from them. Then about two months ago the account suddenly disappeared from my EQ and EX. I'm still trying to get it off of TU however, especially since that is the CRA that the inquiry is on.

From what I've read, it seems that CAs have permissible purpose for hard inquiries as long as the inquiry is in connection to the collection of a debt. My only recommendation would be to DV KCA CMRRR. If they don't respond in time, you can then send that information to the CRAs and most likely get the account/inquiry taken off.
