They can never re-age a debt. It is illegal. The DOFD is always the DOFD and that cannot be changed. However, your "date of last activity", "reported date", and/or "updated date" can change at any time and results in a FICO drop. It can be caused by a DV, dispute, payment, GW, and so on.

Also a DV <----------- means that collectors are selling the accounts to other collectors?

A GW letter is a letter sent to a paid OC or CA or a current OC (like a CC, loan, etc.) asking them for a favor to fix this or that.

ETA...a DV is a letter allowed by the FDCPA to challenge a CA on the validity of a debt. You may also find examples or info on DV letters within the above link.
