Midland Credit Management

Should I DV them before I try a PFD? Also, what if they deny the PFD... then what? They are brutal.

Re: Midland Credit Management

I have several accounts with Midland so I would be interested in hearing the answer as well. They send me a lot of settlement offers, so I wonder if they would be open to PFD's. What sort of experiences have others had with these guys?

Re: Midland Credit Management

I had an account with Midland.  I'm not sure if it was 7 years old, but I disputed and it was removed.  I know it re-emerged about 8 months later and I had to dispute again.  I would try to dispute depending on how old it is.  I guess it's up to you whether you want to draw attention to yourself by disputing.

Re: Midland Credit Management

what did you dispute exactly? Did you say not mine? You disputed with them or CRA?

Re: Midland Credit Management

I disputed with the CRA's.  I said it was over 7 years and should be removed due to the SOL.  Of course, now reading these forums, it can sometimes be 7 1/2, but it worked for me.

Re: Midland Credit Management

I'm sure some are bound to slip through the cracks.  I've even read positive tradelines being removed by accident.

Re: Midland Credit Management

BE CAREFUL!!! They sent Burton, Neil, & Assoc (attorneys) after me. I got typical debt letter from the law office, sent a DV request via regular mail and nothing. I then proceeded to dispute the amount of the debt with TU. TU verified it as correct. A few weeks later I received a summons from my district court. They are suing me! I then sent a new DV letter via certified/return receipt mail. They signed for it on 07/25 and I still have no DV. Anyway, a few weeks ago I got a settlement offer from Midland and it's for more that what the lawyer is suing me for. I sent a DV/PFD to Midland but no response yet. I've contacted different lawyers but can't find anyone to represent me in court. My husband is giving me the money. I'm going to court but will have a cashier's check with me. I am hoping that after paying their lawyer the stupid inflated amount of $2300 (Balance should be no more than $1500) that Midland cannot come for the difference. I will be sure to mention that to the judge. My situation has gotten out of control. My rights were violated but I have no legal assistance at this time. I am keeping my fingers crossed that they accept the pfd and withdraw the case. The court says that it doesn't mean the case will be withdrwan but at least I will have an aggreement in writing from Midland. Good luck to you!
