Not necessarily, but they legally can't extend you one if they haven't recently requested it in order to validate your ability to pay.  You don't have to comply since you already have the card but refusing certainly wouldn't improve your odds.

There's no real harm, at a mininum they have access to general demographic information that allows them to usually predict income pretty accurately so odds are you wouldn't really surprise them.

I know Discover does this and if you decline to provide they will close the account. They have every right legally to do so per your agreement when opening.
