My conversation with Chase Visa

I called Customer Care to ask my burning question.  I already called once earlier today and was told "we report every 30-60 days." I explained I was looking for a more specific answer and suggested it might be in relation to the due date or the statement closing date. I could tell the CSR was just making it up as he went along when he said, "uuhhh, yeah, sometime, a few days after the statement closing date."

So I tried again:

Me: When do you report to the credit reporting agencies?

CSR: It varies.  There isn't a specific date.

Me:  Surely there is.  Like the due date, or the statement closing date ...

CSR:  Well, they might do them in batches.  I don't have that information.

Me:  Who does have that information?

CSR:  The Research Department.

Me:  Well, can I talk to them?

CSR:  No, they don't talk to ... anyone.

Me:  They don't talk to anyone? Not even each other? *snickers*

CSR:  Well, you can write them and ask.

[He gave me Chase's freakin' PO box address in Delaware.]

Me:  Who should I address it to?

CSR: Just send it there.

Me:  Thank you.

Next time mumble something about a third shooter and a grassy knoll and listen for the twitch on the other end of the phone.

Re: My conversation with Chase Visa

To get anything beyond a standard answer in most call centers, you've got to talk to a supervisor. This is because most call centers don't train first level reps to anywhere near a sufficient level to field complex questions "outside the box."

It's why I don't talk on the phone, unless it's personal or to screw with the telemarketers.
