Does NFCU factor your relationship with OTHER Credit Unions into their Internal Score?
I was watching a YouTube video and the video creator suggested that NFCU looks for other Credit Unions on your credit report and your history with them is more favorable then regular banking institutions.
Any truth to this? Because I have MULTIPLE CU CC, Auto Loans, and even a Mortgage with my local CU lol.
EDIT: I am not a member YET, submitttmy application and documents on Friday, I figure I will hear something back by Wednesday.
Please don't listen to those YouTube credit "gurus." They don't know what they're talking about.
For one, how in the world would NFCU know how your relationship with another CU is? All they can gather from a CR is if you have some credit products with another CU.
It's a bunch of doodookakapoopoo as @coldfusion would say.
Navy's internal score is just that - an internal score based on your relationship with Navy themselves.
They take third party reporting into consideration. I, as well as others, have received comments on our denials referencing history with other lenders over a 12 month period. Whether or not that goes towards the internal score is debatable. Chase has an internal scoring system that includes data from third parties as they are not a relationship based lender. There's always the possibility, but their approvals against the grain for some members tend to make it look like they're more first party relationship focused.

As @OmarGB9 mentioned upthread, especially the bolded part, is nothing but doo-doo.
First off, the YT 'creator' has no clue because (a) they are not an underwriter of any products for NFCU, (b) they have no clue how NFCU's internal score works (only NFCU's internal algorithms and the developers who created it know), and (c) they are only on YT for content 'views' and/or 'monetizing' their services.
Just like I could sit here and create YT videos about poodles, fish oil, or whether apple cider vinegar gummies are beneficial for you ![]()
Take those content 'creators' (YT, TikTok, FB, IG, etc.) with a grain of salt. Plenty of misinformation out there.

I have to give credit where credit is due, Sifu used the term here first. I only co-opted it.
To your point though many of the self-proclaimed gurus there do provide incorrect or misleading information, sometimes as a shill for monetized content, so caution is prudent.

I always thought that was a @coldfusion 'original'. I feel misled. I want my $25 back lol. Oh wait, it was a limited promotion 😁 nvm.
That's what I figured, but never hurt to ask!
