I keep $50 in my NFCU accounts and have $79k TCL.
DON'T WORK FOR CREDIT CARDS ... MAKE CREDIT CARDS WORK FOR YOU!
As long as he has Direct Deposit setup he should be good. NFCU is not a hard lender to get approved for if you have a preexisting relationship with them. NFCU also offers pre-approval so best to check that before blindly applying if his credit is questionable.

This is not true, Direct Deposit is not a requirement or prerequisite for credit card approvals.

I don't think anyone can answer that question. I don't think even NFCU could answer that question.
Suffice it to say that there are many members of this forum who think NFCU's credit card decisions are affected by how much you have in your deposit accounts. I am skeptical. I have over $93,000 in unsecured credit with them, and have usually had around $20 on deposit.
And as to waiting for an auto CLI.... don't hold your breath. I don't think Navy is big on those. I've certainly never seen one.
And as to those members who think having a direct deposit relationship helps... I'm skeptical about that as well. I have used their direct deposit function on one or two occasions if that many.
