Name Change on credit report

I just got a Score Watch credit alert that my name changed. The new name change mis-spelled my first name. What can I do about this? Should I call the credit reporting agencies? Why would this change if I didn't request the change?

Did you recently apply for credit? Maybe a clerk miscued your name when typing it into their system. I woul dpull EQ to look for details.

Yes. I've been applying for mortgage loans. I didn't know an error from a lender would cause a complete change on my report.

Definitely! I have about 6 different names on my reports, half are from clerical errors.

I wouldn't worry about it now. However, if you are approved by that lender and your name is wrong on their docs, then you'd need to get that fixed.
