Need some serious help regarding paying OC

I have a CA on my CRs for a utility bill from 2005 for $68.  I have mailed and faxed a PFD to the CA and haven't heard anything back yet--it has been 3 weeks.  I called the utility company that this bill was originally with and the csr said I can still pay the bill with them and they will contact the CA and let them know that it is paid.  She says that the CA will probably update as "paid" on my CR instead of removing it.  I told her I really want this account removed.  She then said once paid, she will fax me a letter stating that I paid the bill with the utility company.  Can I use this letter to fax to the CRA to get them to remove the CA since I paid with the original creditor??

Just did this with Bellsouth. What you want to do if possible, (if the CA is not accepting a PFD) is pay the OC and then do a DV with the CA. Wish you luck Saedra
