New to the forum, question about credit report

On an account on my credit report it says:

Paid, closed/Account charged off. $649 written off. And under account history it says Charge off as of April 2006.

Does this mean they are saying I didn't pay because I did pay it off???

They are saying you defaulted on the account. This falls under the category as being a "baddie".

Right, you paid, but you didn't pay the total amount you owed.   It hurts your credit if you don't pay the full amount due.

I did pay the full amount they said I owed. Time to start digging through my bank statements.

One more question, are they saying that I didn't pay the $649? I am trying to fix my credit so I can buy a house.

It says $0 balance....and paid charge off.

Your scores might improve with a paid derogatory trade line. Your goal now is to have it deleted. Try writing a GW letter. Here's a link to some sample letters. Just remember to write it in your own words. GL!
