Not sure what to do with this credit card CO...

Ok,

In my TU report, it shows this:

When you click the details, it shows this:

My dilemma is, on March 27th, I call them up and tell them I'm going to PIF. I paid them $2,053

exactly via check, and my bank confirms them depositing the check 6 days after.

Why is it still showing up there is a balance when it was paid, and what do I need to do have

them correct it ASAP?

Is this still hurting my credit even though I paid it off over 5 months ago in full?

Thanks!

EDIT: I should also mention this is from a 8/25/09 TU report (the last one I pulled).

Re: Not sure what to do with this credit card CO...

First of all NEVER EVER call a CA. Process is DV then PFD IN WRITING. Get everything in writing.

It being paid or not paid has no bearing on your credit score all that paying it does is to stop them from suing you at a later date.

The only thing you can do is GW the OC and cross your fingers they will delete it. Go to planetfeedback and see if your OC is listed on there and write a good will letter. You can find some examples by using the search function and typing in good will letter. Hope this helps

Re: Not sure what to do with this credit card CO...

Thanks... It wasn't a CA, it was the OC.

I'd love a deletion, but I'm just wondering why it's still marked

with a balance I guess.

Also, before I ever joined myfico, I paid over $20k to CA's

thinking it'd help my credit (which it did by about 125 pts),

but I'm still in the 500's.

I know now, that I shouldn't have gone down that path, but it's

too late for that, and I need info on what to do now Smiley Tongue

Thanks

Re: Not sure what to do with this credit card CO...

You say its a charge off. Usually that means a CA has picked up the debt that the OC has written off and the OC no longer owns it. Did you get anything from any CA? If it is a CO and a CA contacted you, you should have sent the CA a check ( i say this since you didnt know the proper steps beforehand) in which it would have been updated to Paid but again has no real bearing on score if its paid or not paid. Now if you were going up for a mortgage then during a MR it would look good that you paid all your past debts etc.

If the OC is reporting on your CR and you want it deleted all you can do is GW them. Unfortunately you didnt get the PFD in writing so you have no proof to call them and say that a CSR told you thats what would happen.

For example:

I had a CO from verizon on my cell phone. a CA contacted me and i did what you did paid the CA because they "said" they would delete it. I paid it and since verizon was the only one reporting on my CR for this debt it turned from having a balance to being Paid. I GW verizon and they deleted.

Just because the OC is reporting on your CR a CA could actually own the debt. Make sense?

Re: Not sure what to do with this credit card CO...

Yeah that makes sense...

When I called the credit union, the lady I spoke with said

she was about to send it to a CA, but hadn't done it yet.

No CA has ever contacted me about this debt, that's why

I assumed it was still in house, like she said.

She literally said, verbatim, "This debt is still in house".

The reason I called it a CO was because that's what it says

in my TU account Smiley Happy

I sent the check to her, because she said to send ASAP

before she has to report it a CA.

I knew nothing about PFD's back then so the word "delete"

was never brought up in our conversation.

I have yet to contact the credit union because I wanted to

check with you guys first to see what I needed to do, the

right way, before calling them again and/or sending them

anything.

So I just need to send a GW letter or what since she said

it was still "in house" and not sent to a CA (this was back

in March when we talked).

Thanks

Also, this is what my 3 reports "call" it:

Experian - Charge Off
Equifax - Bad debt & placed for collection & skip
Transunion - Charged off as bad debt

Re: Not sure what to do with this credit card CO...

The OC is reporting on your CR i assume?

You said you paid it but did you get a letter from them stating that your debt has been PIF? Did they put a note on your account stating that it was paid?

my next step (only if you have some type of proof stating that your debt is PIF) would be to GW it and see if they will take it off. See if your lender is on planetfeedback and send the GW through them.

What kind of debt was it and through who? Do you still do some type of buisness with them? how long ago did this become a debt? Why didnt you pay in the first place?

Re: Not sure what to do with this credit card CO...

The OC is reporting on your CR i assume?

Yes.

"did you get a letter from them stating that your debt has been PIF?"

Come to think of it, no, never got a letter.

"Did they put a note on your account stating that it was paid?"

Yes.

"See if your lender is on planetfeedback"

They are not.

"What kind of debt was it and through who?"

Credit card and through a credit union.

"Do you still do some type of buisness with them?"

No.

"how long ago did this become a debt?"

Date opened: 9/05

Last Activity: 8/08

Date closed: 4/08

"Why didnt you pay in the first place?"

Lost my business and couldn't pay, and minimum wage jobs

couldn't pay even 50% of my minimum balances.

And yes, I have proof it was paid. I have a bank statement

showing they deposited the check I sent them, and have the

check carbon copy as well.

Re: Not sure what to do with this credit card CO...

ok well since you dont do any current buisness with them it is going to be very hard for you to get them to delete it but....

DONT GIVE UP

keep sending, sending, sending, sending, sending, sending those GW letters and they are bound to say yes to one of them.

Also see if you cant google some info on them like their executives email and email them your GW letters. Search and email Search and email. List the CU that it was and maybe someone on these boards has dealt with them or can offer you some adivce on them, its worth a shot.

Persistence is key when it comes to GW letters. Hope this helps. Remember dont give up and let us know how it goes.
