Ok, so according to creditchecktotal my credit score was 691 as of two weeks ago (and it was 612 in Jan). I did an app spree (well, one application) for the Chase Sapphire Preffered ($5k limit) and requested an CLI on my Walmart (from 600 to 800) and then on my J.Crew (from 700 to 1100). Holy crrap, I logged in today and didn't expect to see such a big jump.
Just last year I got denied for several apartments (eating those fees) because my credit score was 588. I'm shaking right now.
A big thanks to this forum for all of the advice I've been receiving. Was young and dumb and finally am to the point where I can soar.
First, congratulations and a job well done at taking the steps to bring you above 700!
Second, you never actually said what your score was, just that you were up from 691. Where do you stand now? Also, is that your EX score? Did you get just your EX FICO 08 score from CCT or did you get all 3?
Adding 1 account (CSP) isn't considered a spree. It's just a new account. When did you add it? Has it reported yet? If it's already on your credit report, which you can verify from CCT, you've already experienced the total score "ding" associated with the account. If it hasn't reported yet, the only score ding you've felt from the app so far is the inquiry. When the account reports, there's a chance you could cross an AAoA threshold and experience a slight score drop. Also, your AoYA drops to 0 any time a new account reports. If you have opened other accounts within the last year, you likely wouldn't see a score ding from this. If you haven't opened an account within the last year, you could see a slightly greater decrease once the account reports. These are just a few things to keep in mind.
Certainly you are on the right path if your scores are increasing. Also, the fact that you were able to obtain a couple of SP CLIs indicates that your utilization is likely low, so great job there as well. Keep doing what you're doing and you'll be well on your way to "excellent" scores before you know it.
