Hello all...I'm a newbie from NY and need guidance...I have a total of 9 accounts of which 4 are derogatory on my experian report (score 586)...three of them are charge offs and one is in collections...I'm looking to purchase a home within the next year and want to know which is the best way to increase my score.
One of the charge-offs was opened in 2000 and should drop off my report this year...the other two were opened in 2001 and are for $1,800 and $309....the one in collections is for $3,194 and shows that it was opened in 2005, but I have pulled my report before and the dates are inconsistant which I believe they are reaging the account...my fear is that if I start disputing the information they will validate the debt in collection which I cannot afford to pay. Any advice will be appreciated.
