Once a collction has been removed after 7 years, can the collection agency put if back?

My boyfriend had a voluntary repossession on a truck long before I met him. It was on his credit and went to collections but was removed after 7 years and it was unpaid. The balance was about 14,000. He just got a letter in the mail saying that Northland Group Inc. will settle for about 6,000 and his account will be satisfied and closed and a release letter will be sent to him. It cant go on his credit again if it wasnt paid??? Thanks

typical ca trick to get zombie debt revenue. if it is indeed passed the 7 year mark, then under the crtp laws it's down for the count.

Even after 7 years or even 15 years.....you still owe the debt BUT  it can not be put back on your CR!!!!   CRTP applys
 
What you need to check is your SOL       auto loans usually come under promissory notes
