hi everyone...i have 1 public record from 5-6 years ago on my credit report. when this happened, i paid the full amount right away and never thought about it since. but last week when i was on the phone with an account analyst with Discover, she reviewed my credit report with me over the phone. she asked me regarding the judgement against me and if i was paying it in installments. i told her that it's already been paid in full right from the get go. she said that i may want to get that taken care of because it says (from what she was looking at) that it has not been paid.
can anyone please help by telling me how can i check on my credit reports where payment status is indicated? because i've pulled my yearly free credit reports in the past and i've never noticed anything as far as this information is concerned.
It should say right where the judgment information is if it is paid or not.
What type of public record? Judgment, tax lien? Is there a corresponding CA with it?
it was a judgement for NCO Financial. But the TU and EQ credit reports i bought from myFICO end of last month does not indicate whether it's paid or not. do i need to pull my credit report from the 3 actual CRBs?

Hi TN,
If it's been more than 12 months, you may want to pull new reports and look at what's currently on them.
If it's been less than 12 months, perhaps pull them out and let us know exactly how this is reporting for you.
You'll get the best feedback if you can provide that info.
hi beam,
well the current reports i pulled from this site last month both for TU and EQ, this is all it says
| Civil judgement |
| 6CM00085 |
| Oct 02, 2006 |
| Oct 02, 2006 |
| $3,207 |
| Nco Portfolio Manageme |
| Individual |
Hopefully your annual CR has more information. This doesn't give anything.
Does NCO have a separate collections showing? Does it show paid?

You might want to check with the court clerk to see if the judgment is listed in their records as satisfied.
In the vast majority of states, a judgment creditor is given a specific period of time -- usually about 2 weeks -- to ensure the court is advised of the satisfaction of their judgment. Unfortunately, that time period usually runs from the date that the judgment creditor makes a written demand.
Every time you pay a judgment it is recommended that you get a notarized Satisfaction of Judgment and a General Release as well as a receipt.
hi guiness and O6....i just ordered my TU credit report direct from their website and it this is what it says on regarding this judgement
| Legal Item | Dispute | |||
![]() | ||||
| Type: | Judgment | Add Experian and Equifax Reports NOW! | ||
| Status: | Filed | |||
| Date Filed/Reported: | 10/02/2006 | |||
| How Filed: | Individual | |||
| Reference #: | 6CM00085 | |||
| Closing Date: | ||||
| Court: | Recorder Of Deeds | |||
| Plaintiff: | NCO PORTFOLIO MANAGEME | |||
| Action Amount: | $3207 |
now i noticed that there is no indicated closing date. could that be what the credit analyst from Discover was talking about? should that have a date in it if i've already paid this judgement? and no...no collections account from NCO showing in any of the reports i've pulled within the the last several weeks.
btw...thanks everyone for helping me trying to figure this out.

Normally instead of "filed" it should say "satisfied" if you have paid it.
Have you contacted the court clerk to see if it is marked as satisfied in their judgment book?
i'll contact the court clerk on monday. i'll keep you guys posted.
