Just looking for advice. The other day I got off the phone with a supervisor from my Synchrony Bank PayPal Cash back MasterCard account. The account is currently closed because of two returned payments.
On August 6, I made a credit card payment of $30.50 which was returned because my U.S. bank account had a fraud alert restriction placed on the 9th which was out of my control. Then later that day I came into my local U.S. bank and talked to an assistant manager where we concluded it was a mistake done by a phone rep. and got the restriction removed. If the bank account was active, I would have seen the attempted charge amount. There was enough funds to cover the payment at the time as far as my bank records show.
I told this information to the cc supervisor and he told me to have U.S. Bank fax a letter (with letterhead) with proof about the restriction so I called the bank on Friday. I would really like to get my PayPal credit card account reinstated. I also have emails and statements for proof as well if necessary to back this all up as I spent a good couple hours looking at everything. I am pretty responsible for paying my credit card bills so this was completely unexpected and my guess is that they waited until the end of the current billing cycle to close the account without warning.
Any advice on what to do other than waiting Monday for the bank to come through? Based on this info, could the account be eligible to be reopened?
