Re: Philosophy on New Cell Phone Activation

Thanks for the knowledge. Apparently, AT&T is hot right now. I understand that AT&T bought Cingular. Is this an improvement?

Thanks NG. I am leaning toward T-Mobile, they are my current pre-paid carrier.

Re: Philosophy on New Cell Phone Activation

Actually I think Cingular bought AT&T hence the new AT&T, they decided to keep the AT&T name instead of Cingular.  But nothing seems to have really changed as far as I have seen.  My experience has always been good with them.  As cell plans go I think they have comparable and service is always good for us.  Vicki

Re: Philosophy on New Cell Phone Activation

AT&T Inc. has completed its acquisition of BellSouth Corp., creating a flagship American communications company committed to driving convergence, continued innovation and competition in the communications and entertainment marketplace.

The merger consolidates ownership and management of Cingular Wireless, the nation’s No. 1 provider of wireless voice and data services, and YELLOWPAGES.COM, a leading Internet Yellow Pages and local search site.

As a result, the new AT&T will be better able to deliver innovative integrated services, streamlined customer care and greater convenience in buying communications and entertainment services, as the combined company integrates its wireless and wireline Internet Protocol (IP) networks.

Re: Philosophy on New Cell Phone Activation

I've been an AT&T/Cingular customer for over 7 years now. I've never really had any issues, but never had another cell phone company either. I have an iPhone, and LOVE it. One thing, though, I feel like I pay a lot for my service: ~$100/mo. I do use my phone a lot ~4-5,000 mins/mo. so I guess it all evens out.

That Sprint Sero plan that Timothy pointed out sounds great! Sprint doesn't have the best rep here in SoCal though.

Re: Philosophy on New Cell Phone Activation

Just my 2 cents... I'm in So Cal also.

Had Cingular/ATT for many years, had constant dropped calls!  Got Sprint end of last year, scores in low to mid 600's, and haven't had a single problem.  for business purposes, I have free unlimited incoming calls and 300 anytime minutes. About 49.99 a month.  LOVE IT!
Dont know whch report they pulled tho...

Re: Philosophy on New Cell Phone Activation

Best part about that is At&t was bought out by SBC first who then renamed themselves At&t. Things like this and the financial meltdown are what happens when deregulation gets out of hand.

On topic, I have Att/Cingular service and it is ok. I also have a Verizon phone, and it seems to have slightly better reception in the spots around town where the Att service is iffy. I don't use any of the Internet features, so I don't know how they compare on that, but my phone has a neat little 3G symbol next to the bars.

Time for my Cingular rant  Smiley Very Happy

Cingular not only pulled a hard on me to get a phone, they pulled another one a year later to add a line  Smiley Sad

All cell phone service sucks.  I don't know which ones are suckier

And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
