Piggybacking... not working?

So many people have successful piggybacking stories... being added as an authorized user on credit cards and then having them show up on your reports as established trade lines. I've been added to TWO seperate cards more than two months ago, but neither has shown up yet. One card (Mastercard) is with Chase. I called them to inquire about the reporting delay and was VERY dissappointed to have a rep tell me that they won't report me to the bureaus unless I was a JOINT ACCOUNT HOLDER. They said authorized users don't get reported. I think this is baloney... anybody else? Another card is a credit union VISA, and they actually said the same darn thing. I'm anxious to get these two reported, knowing full well that when they do, my score will greatly improve. If anyone out there has some success stories or advice on getting them reported, please share!!

Re: Piggybacking... not working?

can't say whether it's a success story or not but my husband is an AU on my chase mastercard and it's being reported; I an au on his cap1 card and it's being reported on equ and tu. not sure if this has helped with my score or not. He just added me as an au yesterday to his kay card (card holder since 1994) once this is added (if it's before sept) I'll report back if I've seen any changes in my score.

Re: Piggybacking... not working?

KTL, thanks for responding. So when you were added to his Chase card, you were added as an authorized user, not a joint account holder? I'm working with Chase, too, but they're telling me an AU won't be reported at all. I find this hard to believe.

Some do and some don't report. However, starting in September, FICO scoring won't count it.

credithawk,

my husband is on my chase card and I'm on his cap 1 card. We were both added as authorized users.

Re: Piggybacking... not working?

Citibank reports authorized users. CNN recently reported of a credit repair agency thats charges $900 to place you as an authorized user on someones acct who has excellent credit. They would in turn pay that person part of the money. CNN contacted FICO for comment and they decided to end the loop hole.

CNN has many sins for which they'll be held accountable come Judgment Day. But the AU rental thing has been reported for a good while by a great many different news outlets. Network, cable, independent, blog, etc.

Re: Piggybacking... not working?

I'm not clear on this, if you get added as an AU before Sept., will the reporting to your CB's end then?  Or will they continue since you got on before the deadline?
