Question about Discover credit score

How do I check my credit score with discover? Is it a real score, or a vantage BS one?

So I have 674  TRANS  623EQ according to Creditkarma (i know its probably wrong). Trans is a virgin  as everything dropped off it about a month ago and i didnt actually have a Trans score for a month. The dashboard looked scary! EQ has 1 baddy and 1 6 year 6 mos age account. I had a hard inquiry a month ago to get my first cap one.

I want to get some other cards, but I feel something is off. Good news: Got pre approval for sonoma in the mail. Good proapproval odds accoring to creditcarma on a GOLD amex ($195 one)  Bad news: Checked  out discover pre approval - secured. Some other pre approval I forget - secured.

So what do I do?  I dont mind farming and waiting, I just have 1 card I just got and 1 baddy i need to remove. But I have student loans in new collections and IM afraid they might report. If they won't, Ill just wait until 700, about any idea how long it'd take?

Cheers

The free anyone can get score from Discover, AKA Discover scorecard, is an Experian FICO 8 score. If you have a card by them their score is the Transunion FICO 8 score in your account.

Re: Question about Discover credit score

Nice site, thanks dudes Smiley Happy

so 657 Fico 8

4 accounts

14 years, 4 months longest one

2% util (my capital one card is 1 month old)

1 baddy for $200 tmobile/convergent.

Ok, so what I'm looking for - something I can charge to pay rent off, WITHOUT international fee (foreign transaction fee). I'd charge it in a casino in exchange for cash. (saving price of cash advance), pay rent, then pay it off from my checking. So points (i dont really know how to work points though) or cashback, something I can get back from $1000 or so each month in payment.

Besides that anything I can CLI sooner than later. Perks would be nice, I had gold Amex before and it was good for warranty stuff. But I also owed Amex which was written off swould they give me one?

Cheers

Re: Question about Discover credit score

I found my Credit Karma scores were always within 10 or so points of my FICO scores, perhaps due to the nature of my credit history. Either way, Credit Karma is good enough for me anymore.

Don't be so sure going forward.  I know a bunch of people on FB who have been saying this for a year and all of a sudden they're freaking out because of a 40 point CK drop which coincided with their FICO scores going up 5 points.  So that 10 point variance can turn into a 45 point one later.

CK scores are useless for underwriting, even if sometimes they are similar to FICO scores.

it's just a coincidence and one that will go away in time.  If you aren't tracking your FICO scores, you'll never know when that time is and will be going/assuming your score by relying on the bogus VS 3.0 model.

Take the secured Discover. It should graduate in 8-12 months with proper management.

Also, deal with your student loans.

Re: Question about Discover credit score

Paying off that old baddie would help. If you can negotiate a PFD that would be even better.

Are the 4 accounts all CCs or are there any loans? If no loans, adding a share secured loan at a credit union would help.

I think you could probably get a Cap1 card where you are now, but check the prequal site first. (nevermind. reread your posts)  Any prime cards need to wait until you get rid of the baddie and get the scores up a bit. Pay off the old stuff and keep those loans current and you will see a bump soon.
