So I was looking through my Experian report and noticed an old account I thought was closed from 2005 but apparently is still open..
Back story is I financed a motorcycle through a dealership but instead of normal financing they gave me $8300 in store credit which I used $6900 to purchase the bike. On my report it's listed as a revolving credit line open 3/28/2005 and last reported 5/1/2011 with a zero balance.
My question is could I reach out to polaris credit and get a card with them so I can keep the account alive ? It would be my oldest trade line and would be a game changer.

I've never heard of such a thing that appears to be a loan/installment type, not that others haven't. But I'd suggest just calling and inquiring. I had an old account I thought was closed considering it had been well over 10 years since used. But when I finally got around to pulling my credit report I found it was still open with a small CL. Wanting to maximize the revolving UTL now that I knew my score(s) were much better I asked for a CLI and received. This was a store card, not your situation which is unfamiliar to me. But since it's still open and somehow referenced as a revolver, might as well ask. Note that it may result in a HP as mine did. Ask about that too, as I did not and got hit.
What is the current status of the account?
Were there prior derogs, and was the debt fully repaid?
A closed revolving line of credit simply means that you can no longer make new purchases, and a $0 balance does not necessarily mean the debt was repaid.... it could mean the crreditor sold the debt.
Can you provide account history and status information?
The account is listed as Open with a balance of 0/8300. It was paid in full no derogs or anything
From what I understand doing research is HSBC handled the Polaris Star Card after CapOne but it's unclear who owns it now. The number listed on my CR for the creditor now goes to an adult chat line
