Re: Rejected for a credit card I didn’t apply for

Dealing with this myself and they are persistent, as they have been trying to gain access to social media accounts as well. I am not sure where the breach happened as my data has been compromised multiple times, most recently by T-Mobile, sigh.

I received a request to change my account email from Bank of America which I never applied for. Almost dismissed it as a pfishing attemt except 5 minutes later I get an email alert for a hard pull from...Bank of America! I contacted BoA to report the fraud and then Experian since that was the report they pulled. Next day they tried it again with Wells Fargo. Repeated same steps and now have my credit frozen on all three and upped my monitoring, scrubbed everything and changed passwords. I'd advise doing the same. I am emerging from credit rehabbing to credit building myself and honestly this setback has been so defeating that I have almost given up. Nobody cared to steal my identity when my credit sucked...

I know you weren't the OP, but nonetheless, sorry all that happened to you. Glad you caught it early though.

@AnonymousI know that feeling well "Nobody cared to steal my identity when my credit sucked."  I used to lol when it came to identity theft happening to me due to my credit being worse than horrible.

I figured anyone attempting to obtain credit in my name would NOT only get a denial but would get cursed out by the issuer.

You do have to be on your P's and Q's once your credit scores start to rise.
