I have an account on my credit report that is showing closed, charged off. The charges on my account were fradulent in nature. What is the best way to dispute this information to have it removed from my credit report?

Hi and welcome
There is a way to block information resulting from fraud.
Did you file police report?
Hello, thank you for your reply. No, I did not.
If you did not, you may want to do so now. Otherwise, you'll just be claiming "not mine" during disputes and it will come back verified each time. I'm fairly certain you're aware of that by now.
If this was fraudulently opened account, or it had charges due to fraud, you will need to follow identity theft procedures if CRAs are to block this information
Dispute process in itself wont help you with that. One of the reasons being is that everyone could make the same claim for any negative info present.
Good luck and I hope you get it resolved.
Thank you for the information.

+1
Filing a police report is of paramount importance!
how long do you have to file a police report?
It should be as soon as you realized fraud had occurred. How long ago was it that this happened?
on mine it was jan 2015
IMHO, I think waiting 4.7 yrs to report being a victim of credit fraud may be too late unless, I guess, you just found out about it.
