Re: Self reporting credit history?

If a creditor uses a credit report as part of their review process, the FCRA requires they inform you of that fact in any denial letter.

They must identify in their denial letter the name of the CRA from which they received the credit report.

You can then send the denial letter to the CRA within 60 days and receive a free copy of your credit report from that CRA.

If they refer to self-reported info rather than use of a credit report obtained from a CRA, they are indirectly informing you that they did not use a credit report, and thus are not providing the name of any CRA.  You thus have no right to a freebie credit report.
