Soldiers and Sailors Civil Relief Act

Hey all,

I havent seen this mentioned too many places on this forum but it is a great peice of informaiton/legistlation.

The Soldier and Sailors Civil Relief Act was drafted up to help struggling servicemembers with their debts incurred prior and during active duty service. I joined the Army at the age of 17 so this did not apply to me too much. Basically, part of the Act states that if you have debt (Auto loans, mortgage, CC, etc.) prior to active duty and you are struggling, you can have the rate dropped to a fixed 6%. As most legislation, it can be hard to understand fully.

This Act also applies to leases, auto loans, and evictions. Below is a link to a simplified version of the Act. I hope this helps.
