Someone please refresh my memory

Hi, I would like to know if disputes in progress affect your score at all?

I am asking because as you see in my siggy, my scores have jumped from 545 to 611 with Equifax.  I did dispute 3 accounts with them.  Is this helping/hurting my score at all?

Having a dispute in progress can affect your scores, yes.

On certain accounts (not collections) specific information is removed from scoring while the dispute is in progress. Once the dispute is over, if the account remains, the information will then be looked at again by the scoring formula, which means your scores will re-adjust. They may or may not go back to their previous scores, depends on what changes.

Oh, so more than likely, my increase in scores, is due to the dispute in progress?

Maybe!   If you disputed a baddie and it is not deleted you may see your score go down again after the dispute is completed. If the baddie is deleted (after completion) then it will stay as it is now
