Another thread for y'all but I've learned so much good info in this forum these past few years! As stated earlier I was reviewing my TransUnion CR and it came to me that I haven't looked at a formal credit report like that in a long, long time. I noticed Promotional inquiries like Mariner Finance (whom I've never even heard of) and Affinity Plus (whom I have a checking account with). Those two actually sent mailers a week ago as a result. Mariner Finance wanted a loan in the form of a sneaky looking check (have no idea how that even works but I'm steering clear as I don't need a loan). Affinity Plus FCU sent a pre-screened cc that wasn't appealing. I don't mind unsolicited credit card offers in the mail but things like Mariner Finance, T-Mobile, Regional Finance and The Travelers Companies (travel insurance) I'm a little uncomfortable knowing they have access to that sensitive info and I've never done business with them. How did they get my SSN and how much info is available? I don't want to opt out of pre-screened cc offers but those other types I don't want. Is there a way to prevent this?
