I had a freeze on all of my reports as someone has been trying to open accounts in my name. Well, I need to new car and opened my CB so I can start to apply. Low and behold, early this AM I get an alert than Synchony Bank checked my credit. I have a Walmart card with them and did not to this inquiry. Do they just randomly check as a hard inquiry without an application. What in the world is going on here?
Did you call synch and asked what was the reason for the inquiry?
How does it show on your CR?
Do you happen to have a screenshot?
Sorry about million questions
1. I have not called yet. That is on the list to do after I call TU to dispute. I tried to dispute online but it would not let me dispute the inquiry online. I wll dispute in writing to both. I did not do this and do not want this on my inquiry list. I had 2 that were due to fall off at the end of this month. My goal was to not have any when I applied for the car loan.
2. Yes it will show on my report, I received notice from transunion, Nerdwallet, Credit Karma of the inquiry.
3. Yes, I have now taken a screenshot of the notices I receieved.

The question was NOT IF it shows, but HOW it shows, what does it say?

I would call synch before disputing. If it was an error, they should be able to fix it. Disputing HP may lead to CRA placing a fraud alert.
That's not a bad thing if there truly was a fraud, but PITA to deal with if there wasn't one.
In the meanwhile, keep your reports frozen in case somebody did try applying for credit in your name.
I called Syn on the number that was used with the inquiry and they were clueless as to what I was talking about. They gave me the numbers to call to check on the existing accounts that I already have. In short, they were not helpful. I told the rep, I did not submit for an application for any new credit.
I then called TU and advised that I did not apply for any new credit yet and wanted to dispute the inquiry as It was not me and I did not authorize any HP on my credit. Furthermore as I have a fraud alert on mt file, I was to be called in anyone was issuing any credit for me. The rep advised that I needed to get a letter from Synch stating this and I told him I already called them. He was trying to give me a hard time at first, then I started to cry and told him I did not do this and someone other than me is doing this. He then proceeded to tell me he would remove the inquiry as fraudelent and that I would receive a letter of the removal. As soon as I get my car loan I will refreeze my credit. I only unthawed it so I can apply for a car loan. Thank the Lord for small miracles.
