TAX LIEN

My husband and I have a paid tax lien on our credit scores from 2001.  Can you tell me how bad this is hurting our credit, how long this stays on our credit history and is there anyway to get it off?

When was the lien paid and released?? Paid tax liens fall off 7 years after being paid and released.

Looking at the credti report they both same the same thing which I have posted below:

Status date 5/2003

Date reported 9/2001

Amount $13,787

Plaintiff Not reported

Defendant Not reported

To be honest I cannot rememebr all the details myself without going back over some of our tax records that are in storage so I hope this helps answer your question.

julia, i am currently dealing with the same thing. I filed disputes and just heard from experian. They have updated my cr and now show lein as paid. Still waiting to see id it will bump my score at all...good luck.

Contact the county court clerk inwhich the lien was paid and ask for a copy of the release. Here in Okla. it costs $2. I had to send the release myself, as the CRAs didn't want to bother with it.

I just did the same thing as Tex in california and it cost 11 dollars..

I had to get the release of lien from Franchise tax board and then send it

to the county clerk, it probably differs from states..

If you dispute as inacurate it would help to send the CR'S a copy of the release

as EX is tuff for me to get an accurate update on it.
