TC - Fraud Alert

What does this mean

TransUnion: #HK#EFCRA-EXTENDED FRAUD ALERT: ACTION MAY BE REQUIRED UNDER FCRA BEFORE OPENING OR MODIFYING AN ACC

TU put this on my account and EQ put this

Equifax: FRAUD VICTIM. "EXTENDED ALERT". CONSUMER HAS REQUESTED AN ALERT BE PLACED ON THEIR CREDIT FILE. CONSUMER DID NOT PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

I have been repairing my credit but did not ask for any FA on my acct.

Re: TC - Fraud Alert

Did you dispute an inq?
* Credit is a wonderful servant, but a terrible master. * Who's the boss --you or your credit?

Re: TC - Fraud Alert

That's probably what did it. Smiley Sad As a rule, it is not worth it to dispute inqs. This is the classic reaction by the CRA's.

Hang on, and some others should chime in.

Yes, I think that this is the one and only area where the three bureaus share info.

Re: TC - Fraud Alert

Wondering...can I get the FA removed. I hope so. I had to call in and verify myself to TC this morning.

Re: TC - Fraud Alert

If you dispute with "not mine" you can rest assured that will trigger a FA. Dispute with incomplete or improper information, or something like that.. To have a FA removed, simply send the CB a letter asking them to remove it. Be sure to include relevant data - name, address, SS #, DOB., and a copy of a recent utility bill verifying your address.
