So I have been doing some research and been digging around. Hope this is the right board. I am military about 6 month off deployment going overseas with my wife for 3 years and wanting to get a jump on fixing my credit so we can buy a house when we get back. Well I had terrible scores, low 500's when I started this game. I signed with Lexington law and they have helped a good amount. Well, last week, after spending hours on this site, I decided to cancel and take this on myself. I have had two successful GW's go through in one week and grabbed myself a Secured USAA AMEX as well as a Military Star Card. Only two cards I have now. Well, USAA gave me the their credit monitoring service for 6 months free and I have been using it very well. Now the pull only EX. My score is up 28 points this week with them. I wanted to get some variety so I just signed up with TC's 7 day free trial to check my TU. They are showing I have a 701 score with a Grade of C and am ranked at 25%. My question is, can this be accurate? It seems their scale is off on TC, it ranges from 500-990. Can anyone make sense off this for me please. If I have left out any important info that can help, let me know. Please excuse my ignorance as I am very new at this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello and welcome.
That score from TrueCredit is called a VantageScore and although a few lenders have begun to use it it's still a FICO score that most lenders rely on. In other words don't take too much stock in it because there is no way to compare it to a FICO score.
Also be aware that the EX score you get from USAA is not a FICO score either. No one has been able to buy their own Experian FICO score since February of 2009. Creditors can pull Experian and also there is a CU (PSECU) in Pennsylvania that supplies that information to it's members only. You can only buy true FICO scores at a few places. One place is here at myFICO.
At one time you could also purchase your Transunion score at transunioncs.com but that site seems to have stopped doing that. Wal Mart now offers a TU score to those who have their store card and the Discover version.
Equifax will still sell you a FICO score found here: www.equifax.com/web-myfico-products/

EX - 3/11 pulled by lender- 835, EQ - 2/11-816, TU - 2/11-782

Well that def sheds some light. I pulled my Equifax myFICO score today and that listed me at a 602 which sounds more appropriate considering. Still I have def come up a long way in just a few months, wish I had found this site sooner. I had Firstmark CU and Lacks Furniture all respond favorably to GW emails to fix 30 day late reportings. Had a PFD go through 2 weeks ago. Currently waiting on a PFD GW, I already paid the settlement but looking to have them take care of it. Thanks again for all the help, this whole FICO vs. FAKO is starting to make more sense now............Oh and this credit score game can be addicting.

I'm glad to hear you're making progress. Just stay focused and be prepared for inevitable bumps in the road and you'll reach your goal. Time and patience can be your best friends when it comes to credit repair/rebuilding.
