I have all 3 CRA frozen, plus Fraud alert on all 3------today I requested a CLI from Kohls, they called to verify I was the one requesting a CLI in accordance with Fraud alert-----they approved the increase, and a HP was accessed on my TU file while it was frozen?......Has anyone ever experienced this?....I have had other lenders I have cards with try to acess my files without being able to, and will ask me to remove the freeze.
Kohls is Cap 1---in the past, they have asked. A rep at TU says certain companies have the ability to circumvent a freeze, which I have never heard of before. When I mentioned I record my calls, she abrupty stated, I do not give you permission to record this call----sounded really weird. I dont know, does anyone have any experience with this?
They should not be able to perform a hard inquiry. yes, current creditors can do a soft though. if they pulled a hard while it was locked or frozen contact the bureau and request they remove the inquiry.
I believe there's a loophole/bypass for companies that have existing relationships with you.
When you use Experian CreditLock to lock your Experian credit file:

What locking does
When you use Experian CreditLock to lock your Experian credit file:
- Lenders and financial institutions you don't currently do business with can't access it.
Sure, companies that I have a relationship CAN access my frozen files with a soft inquiry, but to perform a hard pull, the file has to be thawed--this was confirmed by a supervisor with TU---I am set up for a call from the head honcho tommorrow to get this resolved

Well the supervisor has lied to you imo. There systems permited a hard pull when your report was frozen. That is in direct contradiction to what the supervisor told you. In my experience, phone reps just tell you what you want to hear without really knowing the inner workings of their own systems. It's possible it was a computer error but that is something that will need escalation beyond a supervisor typically to another back end team entirely.

This supervisor was saying, the HP should NOT HAVE HAPPENED---thats what he was confirming, and the call I am sceduled for is to be from a higher up Supervisor in the escalation dept. A supervisor earlier today said that Kohls has a special permission relatioship with TU that allows them to access my file with a HP while my report is frozen-----Thats the person who actually lied or simply does not know what they were talking about---at any rate, I am on top of it with the goal to get the HP removed. Kohls is also reviewing the phone call I had with their rep who DID NOT advise me they would do review on my CRA--I have that convo recorded. The Kohls rep says they also have it recorded and will review it. When they hear she did not mention a review of my CRA would be perfomed, the rep said they will request the HP removed as well---so I am doing what I can.
I like your plan.
@rchvmzDefinitely keep us updated with the outcome because this HP goes against everything I learned so far involving HPs done while files locked/frozen.
I personally would not accept a Hp for a cli from Kohls to say the least.

Well, TU reached out to me, and confimed they removed the HP and that it was an error in their system----I checked all 3 CRA and it was removed. I had to stay on top of the process though, as first, the TU rep was trying to sell me a story....perseverance pays

Great news! I had a similar incident with a different business and likewise, the reps tried to sell me a story too that what I was stating was was impossible and I had to waste personal time cleaning up their mistakes. There's no justice in the credit world. These businesses won't think twice about ruining your credit and treating you like you don't matter until you harass them until they put you through to someone higher up.
